The Talend Integration Platform can be installed in three ways:

  • on-premise installation
  • hybrid installation
  • cloud installation

If the customer requires all modules – including the TAC control module – to be installed on their servers, an on-premise solution is required. If it is decided that the TMC control module (cloud alternative to TAC) or some other modules will be part of the Talend cloud, a hybrid installation is required. If all modules are placed in the cloud, then cloud installation is necessary.

Hybrid and cloud installation are based on the same type of Talend Cloud Architecture, but differ in that in hybrid installation the customer keeps selected Talend modules installed on their servers. As shown in the picture, with a hybrid installation a variant can be chosen where all modules, including the Remote Engine (runtime server) and Stewardship console, are installed on the customer’s servers. The only module that will be placed in Talend Cloud in this case is the TMC control module. With such an installation, the processed data does not leave the customer’s private IT environment. Hybrid installation is therefore suitable for customers who do not allow their data to be processed outside their private environment.

Main advantages of Talend cloud architecture

Reduced operating costs

– less own hardware is required for operation (or no own hardware is required for cloud installation).

– TMC and modules located in the cloud are updated automatically without a requirement for manual patching, which saves resources.

Increased security

– for TMC and modules located in the cloud, all available security and functional patches are applied automatically and continuously.

Innovations

– Pipeline Designer, API Designer and API Tester tools are available for free with Talend cloud or hybrid solution.

Better SDLC support

– “promotion pipelines” functionality is available in the TMC control module, which ensures simplification when deploying jobs to test and production environments. This automation helps to reduce the error rate that arises during complicated manual deployment within an on-premise solution.

Multitenancy

– Talend cloud architecture enables the separate management of tenants. An organization can purchase one common Talend license, and its divisions can be managed autonomously in TMC without overlaps.
